Product Backlog
A Product Backlog is an ordered list of requests and problems that should be resolved or implemented to improve a product, as stated in the Product Goal. Product backlog items can be added from the ‘Request’ or ‘Problem’ view using the Actions button, and ordered by dragging and dropping. They can contain an estimate, which is used as a complexity indication for developers. The Scrum team or development team should agree on which range of numbers to use for this estimate.
For teams that work according to the Scrum framework, the Product Backlog is the single source of work undertaken by the team. Usage of product backlogs is not limited to teams using scrum, but can be helpful in any product development environment.
Requests or problems that are placed on a backlog will have their status updated to ‘On Backlog’ if the status was not ‘Workflow pending’, ‘Waiting…’ or ‘Waiting for Customer’.
The Product Backlog Fields page provides field utilisation guidelines for each field of the Product Backlog form.
