Short URL Fields

The table below lists the fields of the Short URL form and provides utilization guidelines for each field.

Field Label Utilization Guideline
Short URL

The Short URL field contains the automatically generated URL. This URL starts with https://4me.io/ followed by a short sequence of random characters. For example: https://4me.io/2BY8vJ.

QR code

The QR code field contains a graphical array of black and white squares that represents the short URL in a way that can be scanned by a camera on, for example, a smart phone. Click on the QR code to download it as a PNG image file.

Created by

The Created by field displays the name of the person who created the short URL.

Created

The Created field displays the date and time at which the short URL was originally created.

Type

The Type field is used to select the kind of URI that is to be generated. It is this URI that the short URL forwards to.

Configuration item

The Configuration item field is used to select the CI for which a request is to be registered in 4me Self Service when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Configuration Item in Self Service” is selected in the Type field.

Service

When the type of the short URL is Configuration Item in Self Service, the Service field is used to select the service that should be related to the configuration item.
When the type of the short URL is Service Survey in Self Service, the Service field is used to select the service that has a survey related to it.

Request template

The Request template field is used to select the request template that is to be applied to each new request that is opened when in 4me Self Service when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Request Template in Self Service” is selected in the Type field.

Knowledge article

The Knowledge article field is used to select the knowledge article which instructions need to be displayed when the short URL is used in 4me Self Service. This field is available only when the option “Knowledge Article in Self Service” is selected in the Type field.

Dashboard

The Dashboard field is used to select the dashboard that is to be opened when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Dashboard” is selected in the Type field.

Access token

The Access token field provides a unique token that someone who uses a short URL for a dashboard is asked to enter. Only after entering the access token will the dashboard open, using the access rights of the person who generated the short URL. The ability to drill down from one of the dashboard’s reports into records is disabled when a short URL for a dashboard (or a shareable URL) is used.

Website URL

The Website URL field is used to enter the uniform resource locator of a website to which the short URL is to forward when it is used. This field is available only when the option “Website Address” is selected in the Type field.

To

The To field is used to enter the email address of the recipient of the email that is to be generated when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Email” is selected in the Type field.

Subject

The Subject field is used to enter the subject of the email that is to be generated when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Email” is selected in the Type field.

Body

The Body field is used to enter the body of the email that is to be generated when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Email” is selected in the Type field.

Telephone number

The Telephone number field is used to enter the telephone number that is to be called when the short URL is used. If the type “SMS Message” is selected, this field is used to enter the telephone number of the recipient of the SMS message that is to be generated when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Telephone number” or “SMS Message” is selected in the Type field.

SMS message

The SMS message field is used to enter the text of the SMS message that is to be generated when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “SMS Message” is selected in the Type field.

Skype username

The Skype username field is used to enter the Skype name that is to be called when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Skype” is selected in the Type field.

Twitter username

The Twitter username field is used to enter the name of the Twitter user whose Twitter feed is to be opened when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Twitter” is selected in the Type field.

Tweet

The Tweet field is used to enter the text of the Twitter tweet that is to be generated when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Tweet” is selected in the Type field.

Latitude

The Latitude field is used to enter the latitude coordinate of the location for which a map should be opened when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Map” is selected in the Type field.

Longitude

The Longitude field is used to enter the longitude coordinate of the location for which a map should be opened when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Map” is selected in the Type field.

Address

The Address field is used to enter the address (or only the city or country) for which a map should be opened when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Map” is selected in the Type field.

Plain text

The Plain text field is used to enter the text that should be displayed when the short URL is used. This field is available only when the option “Plain Text” is selected in the Type field.

URI

The URI field is used to enter the uniform resource identifier to which the short URL is to forward when the short URL is used. It is automatically generated when the option selected in the Type field is different from “URI”.
