Workflow Type Fields

The table below lists the fields of the Workflow Type form and provides utilization guidelines for each field.

Field Label Utilization Guideline
Name

The Name field is used to enter the name of the workflow type. Ideally the name of a workflow type consists of a single word, such as “Application” or “Infrastructure”.

Description

The Description field is used to enter a very short description of the workflow type, for example “Must Adhere to Application Change Management Policy”.

Disabled

The Disabled box is checked when the workflow type may not be related to any more workflow templates or workflows.

Reference

The Reference field is automatically set to the Name field value, written in lower case characters and with all spaces replaced by the underscore character. This reference can be used to link the workflow type to a workflow template or workflow using the 4me REST API or the 4me Import functionality.

The reference no longer gets updated if the workflow type is linked to one or more workflows.

Information

The Information field is used to add any additional information about the workflow type that might prove useful, especially for workflow managers when they need to decide which workflow type to select for a workflow template or workflow.

This field allows basic text formatting.

Workflows

The Workflows table field lists all the workflows to which the workflow type is linked.
